There’s relief, disbelief even skepticism- after 6-year old Falcon Heene turned up alive, hiding inside his family’s garage attic, after his family said they thought he was stuck inside a home-made, helium balloon that got loose and flew over Colorado yesterday. The Obama administration is weighing whether to send perhaps 40,000 more troops to Afghanistan, and the new breakdown they are using is that it will cost $1 million dollars per year per soldier sent to Afghanistan, that’s $1 billion for every 1000 troops. And, each gallon of fuel used there is estimated to cost at least $400. We speak with Roxana Tiron, defense reporter for The Hill.

Our final stop is Yolo County, California, where Jeff and Annie Main are working to preserve an organic farm that they gave birth to twenty plus years ago. Nashville Artist Will Hoge’s ‘The Wreckage’

It’s hard not to read the title of Will Hoge’s CD too literally. The singer-songwriter nearly died in a traffic accident in 2008. But after months of rehab and many surgeries, he’s back on the road with his music, which has drawn comparisons to Bruce Spingsteen and Tom Petty. Here and Now’s Alex Ashlock spoke with Hoge before his recent show in Boston.

Thank you for the rebroadcast of the 2008 interview with Maurice Sendak. Very powerful and important for us to understand the context of his stories. What a legacy he leaves through the telling of the stories of the Holocaust the way he does. How important for us to know this when reading his books or going to the movie.
