Bailout Update

Democrats and Republicans in Congress say they have reached an agreement in principle on a much-debated financial bailout plan, hours before an emergency meeting on the economy at the White House. We speak with Gail Chaddock, congressional correspondent for The Christian Science Monitor.

Julian Zelizer

Julian Zelizer, professor of History and Public Affairs at Princeton’s Woodrow Wilson School joins us to discuss the politics of the bailout and its effect on the presidential race. We also hear from Joel Riley of the Joe Riley Show on WTVN-AM in Columbus, Ohio.

Disabled and Iraq

Listen
There are two million disabled Iraqis — the result of war, birth defects, or disease. With a war raging, an American woman, who gets around by wheelchair, hopes to help Iraq’s disabled population. We speak with Tiana Tozer, who has been working in Baghdad running a disability and gender equality program for the group, Mercy Corps.

“Including Samuel”

Listen
One of the educational tools that Tiana Tozer is taking with her to Iraq is a film called “Including Samuel.” The documentary by Dan Habib is the story of his son, Samuel, an eight-year-old boy with cerebral palsy.

Anna Deavere Smith
