Georgia — The U.S. Options

President Bush demanded that Russia remove its soldiers from Georgia and said that the US military will bring humanitarian aid to the region. Beyond that, what are the US options? We speak with Julian Barnes, Pentagon correspondent for the Los Angeles Times.

Russia and Georgia have been fighting their war on the Internet as much as on the ground. The Georgians landed a good punch, taking down the Russian state news agency for the better part of a day. But Russian cyber attacks were able to shut down Georgia’s Internet servers and take control of government websites. In a historical first, Georgian government agencies were forced to re-open their websites on Google’s free blogging network and rely on Google’s e mail service. We’ll speak with Bill Woodcock, research director at Packet Clearing House, a non-profit organization working to develop global Internet networks.
