IRAQ

The U.S. military has just concluded one of the largest bombing campaigns of the war southeast of Baghdad, dropping 40000 pounds of bombs in one area yesterday. At least 21 militants and nine U.S. soldiers were killed since “Operation Phantom Phoenix” began on Tuesday. We speak with Joshua Partlow, Washington Post correspondent in Baghdad.

MICHIGAN ECONOMY AND THE PRESIDENTIAL RACE

We look first at the dire situation in Detroit, where activists say 17 percent of the housing stock is in foreclosure. They are hoping Michigan’s governor declares a moratorium on all foreclosures. We speak with Jerry Goldberg, an attorney and an activist with “The Michigan Emergency Committee Against War and Injustice.” Also, Nolan Finley, editorial page editor at the Detroit News updates us on next week’s Michigan primary.
